Listed in the Parliamentary Army in 1642. Fought at Newbury and was probably mortally wounded at the Battle of Brandon (or Cheriton) Heath. Buried Westminster Abbey, 18 April 1644.
According to this John Meldrum is not to be confused with also Scots.
When Charles II was restored to the throne he ordered the disinterment of the bodies of Oliver Cromwell and his supporters, including Meldrum, and their reburial in an unmarked pit in St Margaret's churchyard, Westminster.
