Concorde

Supersonic passenger airliner, jointly developed by the British Aircraft Corporation and the French Sud Aviation company. Concorde entered service on 21 January 1976. Twenty planes were built, and journey times were cut significantly, for those who could pay. Various reasons have been given as to why they were retired, including low passenger numbers and rising maintenance costs. Another factor was the fatal crash of one of the French fleet in July 2000, which killed all 109 passengers and crew.
