Dr. Khawar Tauheed

A microbiologist, killed in the Ladbroke Grove rail disaster, aged 44.

Andrew Behan has kindly carried out further research: Dr Khawar Tauheed was born on 9 November 1954 in Pakistan and moved to Britain in 1986. He was married with two children and the family lived at 30 Charlotte Gardens, Collier Row, Romford, Essex.

He was a microbiologist and died, aged 44 years, on 5 October 1999 when he was travelling in the front carriage of the 8.06am Thames Trains Turbo train from Paddington to Bedwyn, Wiltshire, when it collided with the 6.03am First Great Western High Speed Train at Ladbroke Grove. At the subsequent inquiry it was stated that the cause of death was head injuries and smoke inhalation and that it was instantaneous. He was buried on 8 October 1999 in the London Borough of Havering.
