His full name was Edwyn Evans Cronk. Born in 1846 in Sevenoaks, Kent, the son of Edwyn Evans Cronk and Isabella Cronk, née Bain. He married Gertrude Tylee in 1872 in Chelsea. An architect and surveyor, he died at 23 Redcliffe Square, South Kensington on the 22nd April 1919.
