Edward Foster, VC

Born in Streatham. He enlisted in the 13th Battalion (Wandsworth) East Surrey Regiment and was sent to France in June 1916.

On 24th April 1917 at Villiers-Plouich, his troop's advance was held up by two machine-guns in a trench. Foster who was in charge of two Lewis guns succeeded in entering the trench, killing the enemy gunners and capturing their guns.
