Andrew Behan has kindly provided this research: Edward Henry Snook was born on 16 April 1904 in Limehouse, the seventh of the eleven children of Francis James Snook (1874-1951) and Eleanor Annie Snook née Crawley (1874-1949). His father was a Gas Stoker. He was baptised on 18 May 1904 at St Anne's Church, Limehouse and the family were living at 4 Tile Yard, Limehouse.
The 1911 census shows him living with his family at 12 Clutton Street, Poplar.
In 1937 he married Alice Helena Bennett (1909-2008) in Poplar and they had two sons, Michael J. Snook, born 1937 and Brian E. Snook, born 1939. Electoral registers from 1938 show them living at 19 Chilcot Street, Poplar and this was confirmed in the 1939 England and Wales Register that additionally shows his occupation to be a Street Trader - Fish. He was also an A.R.P. Stretcher Bearer and died, aged 36 years, on 18 September 1940 when a high explosive bomb fell on Saunders Ness Road School, Isle of Dogs, London, E.14, that was being used as Auxiliary Fire Service Sub Station No.35U. He is also commemorated in the Civilian War Dead Roll of Honour, located near St. George's Chapel in Westminster Abbey.
