Eleanor Harvey was born on 2 September 1907 in Merton, Surrey, (now the London Borough of Merton), the second of the three daughters of William George Harvey (b.1874) and Winifred Harvey née Gunner (1878-1948).
In the 1911 census she is shown as living in a six roomed property at 71 Edmund Street, Saltley, Birmingham, Warwickshire, with her parents, her elder sister, Joan Harvey (1905-1990), and her paternal grandfather, William Laban Harvey (1846-1920). Her father described himself as a clerk book-keeper employed by a motor manufacturer and her grandfather was an unemployed domestic coachman.
In the 1939 England and Wales register she is shown as a shorthand typist residing at 47 Sidney Road, Beckenham, Kent, with her parents, her elder sister, Joan, and her younger married sister, Joyce Dawson (1912-1999). Her father was described as a shipping manager and her elder sister was shown as a shorthand typist who also served in the medical services section of Beckenham Air Raid Precautions.
On 18th March 1948 she was appointed as the organising secretary of Coram's Fields playground.
Probate records confirm that she died, aged 54 years, on 26 April 1962 at the Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital, 60 Great Ormond Street, London, WC1, (now called The Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine) and that her address remained as 47 Sidney Road, Beckenham. Probate was granted to her sister Joan Harvey on 20 July 1962 and her effects totalled £6,389-11s-0d.
