Political activist and writer. Born in what is now Lithuania. Emigrated to US 1885. Lover and life-long friend of Alexander Berkman. Imprisoned and then deported from the US. Moved to London in 1924. Again threatened with deportation she made a marriage of convenience in 1925 with a Scottish anarchist which gave her British citizenship and allowed her to travel. Died in Toronto.
