Enid Bagnold

Novelist and playwright. Born Enid Algerine Bagnold at Borstal Cottage, Rochester, Kent. She spent several years of her childhood in Jamaica, where her father, a military engineer had been posted. As a writer, she is probably best known as the author of 'National Velvet' and the play 'The Chalk Garden'. She died at 17a Hamilton Terrace, London and her ashes were buried at Rottingdean, Sussex.
