Enid Crystal Dorothy Marx, RDI, painter and designer, best known for her industrial textile designs for the London Transport Board and the Utility Furniture Scheme. The first female engraver to be designated as a Royal Designer for Industry.
Known for her fabric designs she was also a printmaker and painter, who produced linocuts and designs for book jackets, postage stamps, posters and cards. Marx and her partner, the historian Margaret Lambert (1906-95), together shared a love of English popular art. They wrote books on the subject and their collection of folk ceramics and other objects is on display at .
