Andrew Behan has kindly provided this research: Frederick Hall was born on 22 December 1901 in Poplar, the youngest of the five children of Henry Thomas Hall and Ada Helena Hall née Johnson. His father was a commercial clerk.
In 1930 he married Edith Emily Mayes in Poplar, and the 1939 England and Wales Register shows them both living at 13 Brig Street, Poplar. His occupation was recorded as a Dock Labourer - Heavy Work, but later he was a Full Time A.R.P. Warden. His wife's occupation was listed as a Tarpaulin Sheet Repairer.
He died, aged 38 years, on 18 September 1940 when a high explosive bomb fell on Saunders Ness Road School, Isle of Dogs, London, E.14, that was being used as Auxiliary Fire Service Sub Station No.35U. He was buried on 3 October 1940 at the City of London and Tower Hamlets Cemetery, Southern Grove, London, E3 4PX. He is also commemorated in the Civilian War Dead Roll of Honour, located near St. George's Chapel in Westminster Abbey.
