Fusilier Stephen John Gwynne

Fusilier Stephen John Gwynne was born on 23 May 1933, the elder of the two children of George Gwynne (1909-1989) and Ada Margaret Gwynne née Stevens (1912-1993). His birth was registered in the 2nd quarter of 1933 in the Chertsey registration district, Surrey and his father was a stage hand at a film studio. The birth of his sister, Wendy A. Gwynne, was registered in 3rd quarter of 1936 in the Surrey North Western registration district.

Electoral registers from 1935 onwards show his parents listed at 17 Jessamy Road, Weybridge, Surrey.

He was killed in action, aged 19 years, on 23 April 1953 whilst serving in C Company of the 1st Battalion, Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment), service number 22581456, in the Korean War and was buried in Section 39, Row 6, Grave 3381 in the, Tanggok, Pusan (now called Busan), Korea. He is also commemorated on the .
