George Mackmurdie

George Mackmurdie was born on 24 August 1948, the eldest of the four children of Clarence George Mackmurdie (1926-2012) and Mavis Mackmurdie née Bickerdike (1928-2009). His birth was registered in the 3rd quarter of 1948 in the Islington Registration District, London. His three siblings were: Ian Mackmurdie (b.1951); Geoffrey Mackmurdie (b.1954) and Jacqueline Mackmurdie (b.1956).

Electoral registers from 1957 to 1964 show his parents listed at 10 Arundel Square, London, N7.

He married Mary P. Miles (b.1951) in the 3rd quarter of 1968 in the Islington Registration District. The birth of their son George Mackmurdie (b.1969) was registered in the 3rd quarter of 1969 in the Islington Registration District.

Electoral registers in 1970 show him and his wife listed at 93 Kelvin Road, London, N5 and telephone directories from 1971 show him at 7 Leith Road, London, N22.

His death, aged 26 years, was registered in the 2nd quarter of 1975 in the London City Registration District and his date of birth was recorded as 24 August 1948. Probate records confirm that his address had been 7 Leith Road, London, N22 and that he died on 28 February 1975. Administration of his estate was granted on 23 May 1975 and his effects totalled £26,241.

He is shown as 'MACKMURDIE, GEORGE' on the Moorgate tube disaster memorial in Finsbury Square, London, EC2.
