Co-churchwarden of St Jude's in 1871.
He was born c.1828 in Hornby, Yorkshire, the second of the six children of George Gibson Davy (1788-1849) and Martha Davy née Tacon (1798-1886). His father was a land agent.
In the 1841 census he is shown as aged 13 years, living with his brother, William G. Davy (b.1833), in the home of Thomas and Mary Bonner in Scorton, Richmond, Yorkshire.
He was described as a banker's clerk in the 1861 census, residing in Norwood, Surrey (now Greater London), with his mother, and a female general servant.
On 21 November 1865 he married Maria Sophia Reader (1836-1921) in St Jude's Church, Islington, Middlesex (now Greater London), where in the marriage register he is shown as a bachelor and an accountant living in Mildmay Road, Islington, whilst his wife was shown as a spinster living in South Grove West, Mildmay Park, Islington, the daughter of Thomas William Reader, a brewer.
When their daughter, Edith Marian Davy (1873-1958) was baptised in St Jude's Church on 11 September 1873 by his youngest brother, Reverend Thomas Gibson Davy, the baptismal register shows the family residing at 127 Mildmay Road, Islington and he was recorded as a clerk.
In the 1881 census he is shown as a bank's clerk living at 36 Clissold Road, Stoke Newington, with his wife, their daughter and a female general servant. He was still shown as a bank's clerk and residing at the same address in the 1891 census, together with his wife, their daughter and a female general servant.
When his co-churchwarden, Colin MacRea (1805-1898), died on 23 February 1898 he was listed as one of the people appointed to administer his estate.
He was recorded as a retired bank clerk in the 1901 census, living at 149 Norwich Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, with his wife, their daughter, his widowed sister Sarah Robinson née Davy (1827-1913), together with a general domestic servant.
He died, aged 74 years, on 7 November 1902, his death being registered in the 4th quarter of 1902 in the Ipswich registration district, Suffolk. Probate records show that his address had been 149 Norwich Road, Ipswich and that his occupation was a retired bank clerk. When probate was granted on 5 December 1902, jointly to his widow and to his nephew Henry George Read (1857-1937), a land agent, his effects totalled £3,045-7s-6d.
