George Scott

Footballer and soldier. He started his football career with Sunderland District Amateur League sides Braeside and Sunderland West End, and joined Clapton Orient in July 1908. At the outbreak of WW1 he enlisted with the 17th Middlesex Regiment, the 'Footballers' Battalion'. During the Battle of the Somme, he was wounded and taken prisoner, and died at a German military hospital.
