A railway company which came into being when the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway changed its name in anticipation of the opening of its London extension. It was eventually grouped into the London and North Eastern Railway.

As this is a fairly unusual name, we are presuming he's the same person who is one of the experts on the BBCÂ television series 'Antiques Roadshow'. He has also written about railways.
