Henry Hampson

Henry George Hampson was born in 1920, the son of Henry W. Hampson and Harriet E. Hampson née Thoms. His birth was registered in the 2nd quarter of 1920 in the Shoreditch registration district.

He was enlisted as a Private in the 1st Battalion, Green Howards (Yorkshire Regiment), service number 4753946, when he was killed in action, aged 23 years, on 20 July 1943.

He was buried near where he fell, but on 9 November 1943 his body was exhumed and reburied in Plot 2, Row C, Grave 28 in the Catania War Cemetery, Stradale Passo del Fico - 95121 Catania Zona Industriale (CT), Sicily, Italy.
