Herbert Barlow Nightingale

Footballer. Born in Silvertown and known as 'Nobby'. He worked for the local electrical engineering company Seimens, and played for Charlton Athletic football club. In WWI, he signed up with the Royal Garrison Artillery and was killed in action at Messines, Belgium. Served in the 38 TMB RGA, that is: the 38th Trench Mortar Battery of the Royal Garrison Artillery.
