Herbert Chapman

Football player and manager. Born in Kiveton Park, near Rotherham. He played for a variety of clubs before becoming one of the most successful managers in English football. He managed Arsenal F.C. from 1925 until his death, and was one of the first football managers to take full charge of the team. He was a strong believer in physical fitness, instituting a strict training regime and the use of physiotherapists and masseurs.
