Hetty King

Music hall entertainer. Born Winifred Emms in New Brighton, Cheshire. She adopted her stage name when she appeared on stage at the Shoreditch Theatre, with her father, William Emms, who used the stage name of Will King. She specialised as a male impersonator (drag king?) and frequently appeared in pantomime as principal boy. She was still performing in her final years. Died in Wimbledon.
