United Kingdom citizen who died in the terrorist attacks in America on 11 September 2001.
Howard Selwyn was born on 2 August 1954 in Leeds, Yorkshire, the eldest of the four children of Leslie Selwyn and Norma Selwyn née Lestner (1933-2006). His siblings were Russell Selwyn (b.1957), Ian Selwyn (b.1965) and Lisa Selwyn (b.1970).
He met his wife, Frances Ruth Levin, whilst on holiday in Israel in 1973 and they were married in Leeds in 1979 and moved to Manhattan, New York, USA in 1981 where their son, James Selwyn (b.1982) was born. In 1983 they moved to Hewlett, New York where their second son, Alex Selwyn (b.1991) was born.
He was a keen follower of football and coached several local youth American 'soccer' teams, even being the goalkeeper of the 'Blue Baldies' when he was aged 40 years. On 30 August 2001 he and a partner started a retail outlet called 'Soccer Central' in Hewlett, New York.
He was a money broker and a vice president of the financial company EuroBrokers which had their offices on the 84th Floor of the South Tower, World Trade Centre, Manhattan, New York, USA and it was here that he died, aged 47 yeaars, on 11 September 2001.
