Humphrey Jennings

Documentary film maker. Born Suffolk. Co-founder of the Mass Observation organisation (something like current day personal blogs but with pencil and paper). In 1936 he helped organise the Surrealist Exhibition at the New Burlington Galleries. Joined the GPO film unit in 1934 and directed a number of now famous shorts: 'London Can Take It!', 'Listen to Britain', 'Spare Time'. His death was untimely: aged 47 he was on the Greek island Poros, scouting locations for a film about health services in Europe when he fell from a cliff.
