From "The Battalion transport for the annual camp training had always been composed of vans and horses belonging to Messrs. James Shoolbred & Co., Limited, and the whole of the transport required for the war establishment mobilisation came from the same source. The horses were of magnificent quality and in splendid condition. They subsequently went out to France with the Regiment and rendered long and faithful service to their country. A few of them remained with the Battalion during the whole war. " This would have been organised by Col. Rupert Shoolbred.
