John Emmerson

John Emmerson was born in 1931. His birth was registered in the 2nd quarter of 1931 in the Stepney Registration District, London and his mother's maiden name was recorded as Dunphy.

He was living at 96a Columbia Buildings, Hassard Street, Bethnal Green, London, with his parents John Emmerson (c.1905-1940) and Margaret Emmerson (c.1906-1940) and his brother Patrick Emmerson (1938-1940), when he was killed by a German bomb that fell on the Columbia Market air raid shelter on the night of 7th/8th September 1940.

It is not known where his .

He is shown as 'EMMERSON JOHN 10' on the Columbia Market air raid shelter memorial in the Rose Garden, Old Market Square, Ravenscroft Park, London, E2.

He is also commemorated on the , on the  and in  that is kept just outside the entrance to St George's Chapel at the west end of Westminster Abbey.
