Lonnie Donegan

Singer and songwriter. Born as Anthony James Donegan in Bridgetown, Glasgow. He was at the forefront of the skiffle craze in the 1950s, and had big hits with 'Rock Island Line', 'Cumberland Gap' and 'Tom Dooley'. As music tastes changed, he turned to making comedy records such as 'My Old Man's a Dustman' and 'Does Your Chewing Gum Lose its Flavour on the Bedpost Overnight?'. Like many performers of his time, he became eclipsed by the likes of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
