Lord Kinnaird

Lord Kinnaird

Footballer and philanthropist. Born Arthur Fitzgerald Kinnaird in London. Unusually he had double careers in banking and football. He played in nine F.A. cup finals and had the dubious honour of being the first player to score an own goal. He spent a lot of his time teaching destitute orphans to read and write and gave away a large part of his fortune to charities. He was also president of the YMCA and YWCA. Succeeded his father as 11th Lord Kinnaird in 1887. Died at his home, 10 St James's Square.
