Margaret Emmerson was born circa 1906.

She was living at 96a Columbia Buildings, Hassard Street, Bethnal Green, London, with John Emmerson (c.1905-1940) and their two sons John Emmerson (1931-1940) and Patrick Emmerson (1938-1940), when she was killed by a German bomb that fell on the Columbia Market air raid shelter on the night of 7th/8th September 1940.

It is not known where her .

She is shown as 'EMMERSON MARGARET 34' on the Columbia Market air raid shelter memorial in the Rose Garden, Old Market Square, Ravenscroft Park, London, E2.

She is also commemorated on the , on the  and in  that is kept just outside the entrance to St George's Chapel at the west end of Westminster Abbey. The Roll of Honour lists her as 'EMMERSON (otherwise O'FARRELL) MARGARET, aged about 34; of 96a Columbia Buildings, Hassard Street. 8 September 1940. Columbia Market'.
