Mary Davies

Heiress and (unrelatd we are sure) wife of Sir Thomas Grosvenor. Her date of birth is approximate, although it is known that she was only twelve years old when she married. Her dowry included the Manor of Eia (or Ebury), which in time became Mayfair and Belgravia. After Grosvenor's death she married her chaplain's brother Edward Fenwick. This raised financial implications in relation to her estates, and in 1705 the marriage was annulled because she was not 'compos mentis'. She was subsequently declared a lunatic.
