Matthew Macauley

An information technician killed in the Ladboke Grove rail disaster, aged 26.

Andrew Behan has kindly carried out further research: Matthew Peter Macauley was born on 10 October 1972 in Kohimarama, Auckland, New Zealand, one of the three children of Peter Macauley and Diana Macauley née Barrett. He was a bachelor, living in Queenstown Road, Battersea, south London and was a Cellnet Information Technology contractor. He died, aged 26 years, on 5 October 1999 in the Ladbroke Grove rail disaster whilst travelling to work. He was identified by a tattoo of his name on his back and documentation, including a ticket to see the England v New Zealand world cup rugby match on Saturday, 9 October 1999 at Twickenham, which New Zealand won by 16-30 points. His body was repatriated for burial in New Zealand.
