Michael Egan

United Kingdom citizen who died in the terrorist attacks in America on 11 September 2001.

He was the brother of Christine Egan who also died in the attack.

Michael Egan was born on 13 July 1950 in Hull, Yorkshire. He was the son of Joseph L. Egan and Edith Egan née Petch and grew up on the Orchard Estate in Hull.

Both he and his sister emigrated to Canada in 1969. In 1981 he married his wife, Anna Maria, and they had two children, Jonathan and Matthew. In 1991 they moved from Montreal, to Lincroft, Middletown, New Jersey, USA.

He and his wife intended to go Bermuda to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary and his sister, Christine Egan, flew from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to look after their children. He died, aged 51 years, on 11 September 2001, when they both went to his office at Aon Corporation, where he was an insurance executive, on the 105th floor of the South Tower, 2 World Trade Centre, Manhattan, New York

His widow provided two in memory of the couple. These were originally located in Queens Gardens, Hull but are now outside the History Centre, Worship Street, Hull.
