Michael Searles

Architect. He specialised in large houses particularly in London. His best known work is probably The Paragon, a 14 house crescent in Blackheath.

His gives some details and, erroneously (in 2024), shows his year of birth as 1750.

Michael Searles was born on 10 November 1751, the son of Michael Searles (1722-1799) and Frances Searles née Holley (1723-1788). On 8 December 1751 he was baptised at St Mary Magdalene Church, Woolwich, Kent (now Greater London), where his date of birth is confirmed in the baptismal registers.

On 7 October 1771 he married Katherine Ashworth (1754-1816) in St Gregory's Church, London.

He died, aged 61 years, on 20 October 1813 and was buried on 28 October 1813 in the churchyard of St Alfege's Church, Greenwich, Kent (now Greater London), where in the burial register his address was given as Kent Road, Greenwich.
