Miss Ellen Heaton

Born 7 Briggate, Leeds. Art collector and philanthropist, initiating several charitable projects in Leeds. She cultivated relationships with some of the leading literary and artistic talents of her time, particularly John Ruskin and Elizabeth and Robert Browning. The Brownings however found her overwhelming to the point of being aggressive. Died 6 Woodhouse Square, Leeds.
