Queen Victoria's first visit to the City of London (as queen)

In the Temple Bar ceremony the Queen, or King, stops so that the Lord Mayor of London can presents the Sword of State as a sign of loyalty. After the Temple Bar was removed this ceremony continued at the Temple Bar memorial and still occurs today. Possibly the memorial was erected primarily to allow this ceremony to continue.
