Gunner Robert Henry Walter Trigg was born on 1 January 1903 the eldest son of Walter and Sarah Ann Trigg. His birth was registered in Farnham, Surrey and his father was a Carpenter. On 26 January 1903 he was baptised at St Michael’s Church, Yorktown, Camberley, Surrey and the family resided at Barossa Road, Camberley. The 1911 census shows the family living at 4 Kings Ride, Camberley. From 1931 to 1937 he lived at Hope Fountain, Camberley before moving to 79 Parkfield Road, Feltham. In July 1937 he was appointed as a Postman in the London Postal Region and the 1938 and 1939 electoral registers show him living at 9 Ivanhoe Road, Camberwell.
He joined the army in 1941 and was attached to 204 Battery, 95th Heavy Anti Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery that arrived in India on 11 April 1942. His service number was 11259456. He was admitted to the 47th British General Hospital where he died from a liver abscess caused by Hepatitis B, a tropical gastrointestinal disorder, aged 39 years, on 29 September 1942 and is buried in Plot H, Grave 92 at the Calcutta (Bhowanipore) Cemetery, Calcutta (now Kolkata), India. Administration of his estate was granted to his father and his effects totalled £145-18s-10d.
