Rev. Thomas Tyssen Bazely, of Dover, Kent. Fellow and Tutor of Brasenose 1831–39, Rector of All Saints Poplar 1839–60. He was the second rector there. TT married Julia Shipdem and they had just one child that survived, Henry Casson Barnes Bazely, born 1842 at the Poplar rectory. By the time of the 1861 census TT had retired and the family was living at 1 James Villas, Poonah Place, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, with two servants (a housemaid and cook).
Julia died in the Dover district towards the middle of 1876, and Henry inherited money from her. With which he built a Scotch church in Nelson Street, Jericho, Oxford where he ministered until his death. He died at 32 New Inn Hall Street, Oxford, at the age of 40 on 1 March 1883. TT attended his son’s funeral.
TT is buried immediately opposite the front door of the Poplar Church. and gave his name to Bazely Street which was previously known as Bow Lane.

Additionally, our colleague Andrew Behan supplied not only his dates of birth and death but that he was born on 28 May 1808, the 4th child of Rear Admiral John Bazely (1767-1828) and Harriot Bazely née Baker (1771-1812). On 30 May 1808 he was baptised in Clee, Lincolnshire. His three siblings were: Lieutenant John Bazely RN (1801-1835); Reverend Charles Henry Baker Bazely (1802-1836) and Lieutenant George Lee Hougham Bazely RN (1806-1841).
Having married Julia Shipdem (1803-1876) on 21 August 1839 in Dover, Kent, the 1841 census shows him as a clergyman residing in Newby Place, Poplar, Middlesex (now Greater London), with his wife and two female domestic servants. Their son, Henry Casson Barnes Bazely, was born on 4 September 1842 and Thomas Tyssen Bazely baptised him on 30 October 1842 in All Saints Church, Poplar.
The 1851 census lists him as aged 42 years, the Rector of Poplar and giving his place of birth as Cleethorpe, Lincolnshire. He was living at The Rectory, Newby Place, Poplar, with his wife and their son, together with a nurse, a cook and a housemaid.
Probate records confirm that his address had been 8 Townwall Street, Dover and that he died, aged 86 years, on 14 November 1894. Probate was granted on 11 December 1894 jointly to Colonel William John Frampton of His Majesty's army and the Reverend Thomas Shipden (sic) Frampton. His effects were originally shown as £21,322-6s-4d but were subsequently resworn in February 1895 as £23,342-6s-4d. His death was registered in the 4th quarter of 1894 in the Dover Registration District.
