Robert, Lord Clive, Clive of India

Soldier and administrator. Born Shropshire. With the East India Company he effectively founded the British Empire. Spent much of his adult life in India, making his fortune there and becoming Governor of Bengal. Back at home in Berkeley Square he died by suicide with an overdose of laudanum after being accused of financial irregularities.

He has been accused of actions leading to famines and other atrocities towards native populations.
