Died aged ten years. Andrew Behan has kindly carried out some research on this little girl. Rose Martin was born in 1906 in Limehouse, London, a daughter of John Haddon Martin and Rebbeca Ann Martin née Bluer. Her father had been both a Galvanizer and Dock Labourer. The 1911 census shows the family living at 26 Bygrove Street, Poplar and she is recorded as being called Rosey Martin. An elder brother John Haddon Samuel Martin was killed in action on The Somme, France whilst serving in the 9th Battalion of The Cheshire Regiment on 2 November 1916. They moved to 10 Annabel Street, Poplar from where she attended the Upper North Street School, Poplar and died there, aged 10 years, on 13 June 1917 as a result of a bomb from a German aeroplane that killed a total of 18 children. On 20 June 1917 she was buried in a mass grave at the East London Cemetery and Crematorium, 260a Grange Road, Plaistow.
