Rt. Rev. Graham Douglas Leonard, KCVO, Bishop of London

Graham Douglas Leonard was born on 8 May 1921, the son of Douglas Leonard (1883-1973) and Emily Mabel Leonard née Cheshire (1885-1962). His birth was registered in the 2nd quarter of 1921 in the Greenwich registration district.

In the 1939 England and Wales Register he was shown at Monkton Combe Senior School, Church Lane, Monkton Combe, Bath, Somerset. He married Vivien Priscilla Swann (1922-2013), the marriage being registered in the 1st quarter of 1943 in the Cambridge registration district, Cambridgeshire and they had two children: Mark M. Leonard whose birth was registered in the 1st quarter of 1947 and James V. Leonard whose birth was registered in 4th quarter of 1944 both in the Cambridge registration district.

Our Picture Source, his and his gives much information about this man including his military service during World War Two, that he was made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order and that he was the suffragan Bishop of Willesden (1964-1973), the diocesan Bishop of Truro (1973-1981) and the Bishop of London (1981-1991).

Electoral registers in 2005 show him listed at 25 Woodlands Road, Witney, Oxfordshire, OX28 2DR. He died, aged 88 years, on 6 January 2010 in Witney, Oxfordshire.
