Sam Bartram

Goalkeeper and football manager. After school he became a miner, and played in non-league football. In 1934, he was spotted by a scout from Charlton Athletic and was offered a place on the team, playing exclusively for them until 1956. On retirement from playing, he became manager of York City and then Luton Town.
