1857 joined his brother, George, in the family biscuit firm, Huntley and Palmers, based in Reading. William Isaac Palmer also joined the business. Samuel ran the London office and lived with his family in Hampstead in a house close to the site of the fountain from 1880.
From we think that Samuel was born in Somerset c.1820, married Mary Jane Marsh in 1856 in Hackney. One of their children was (Samuel) Ernest Palmer, 1st Baron Palmer (1858 - 1948). Interestingly, in 1881 Samuel and Jane were recorded at 60 Finchley Road, which is immediately behind the house that they were having built at that time.
From : "Mr. Samuel Palmer, the last survivor of the three brothers who founded: the well-known biscuit-making firm, of Huntley and Palmer, died in his eighty-fourth year at his residence, Northcourt, Hampstead, yesterday morning."
