Sir Arthur Eddington

Astronomer. mathematician and physicist. Born Arthur Stanley Eddington in Kendal, Westmorland. He is famous for his work concerning the theory of relativity, and wrote a number of articles explaining Einstein's theory. He also conducted an expedition to observe the solar eclipse of 29th May 1919, that provided one of the earliest confirmations of general relativity. Died in the Evelyn Nursing Home, Cambridge.
