Politician and patron. His date of birth is approximate. Member of Parliament for Pembroke Boroughs from 1695 to 1702, and later for Haverfordwest. He was responsible for the introduction of several legislative measures to suppress ‘vice and profaneness’, notably the Blasphemy Act of 1698. As a benefactor he established no fewer than twenty-two charity schools in Pembrokeshire alone. Died at Bartlett's Buildings, Holborn.
