Lord Mayor 1971-2. Excelled at cricket in his youth. In 1967, while Studd was Alderman Sheriff of the City of London, the 1831 London Bridge which had been sold to Arizona was installed in its new location. Studd and his wife attended the laying of the foundation stone and the opening ceremony the following year.

As Lord Mayor of London he attended several ceremonies in Lake Havasu City, Arizona having to do with the re-opening of the original London Bridge in Arizona. Died London.
