Sir Richard Beachcroft

Administrator. Born Richard Melvill Beachcroft in Hampstead. He was Deputy Chairman, Vice Chairman and finally Chairman of the London County Council from 1896 to 1910. An early Alpinist, he first travelled to the Alps in 1864, and keen cricketer, he established the Paddington Recreation Ground with Lord Randolph Churchill.
