Sir Robert Hales

Sir Robert Hales

Born Kent. Lord/Grand Prior of the Knights Hospitallers of England. As Lord High Treasurer he was responsible for collecting the poll tax. Bad timing for him since the Peasants Revolted, stormed the Tower of London where Hales, Sudbury and others were hiding, and beheaded them on Tower Hill. In the 'Look and Learn' picture it's not really clear who's who but it's the only picture of Hales we could find.
