Sir William Beveridge

Sir William Beveridge

Economist and social reformer. Born William Henry Beveridge in Rangpur, India (now in Bangladesh). He is remembered for the 1942 report 'Social Insurance and Allied Services' (known as the Beveridge Report), which was the basis for the welfare state put in place by the post-war Labour government.
