Sister Monica Tywang

Born in Trinidad, Tywang moved to England in the 1960s, aged 13. Ten years later, she entered the Daughters of Wisdom, a convent, and trained as a nurse in Blackpool before settling in London. Her association with the Notting Hill Carnival began in 1975. Cardinal Hume asked her to work full time in the community.
