Frank Allen Binks was born on 17 May 1917 in Columbo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), a son of Harry Binks and Gladys Eleanor Binks née Allen.
Much of the information about the man can be found on the . The 1936 Medical and Dental Students Register confirms that having obtained his Oxford & Cambridge School Certificate in July 1933 he took his pre-registration examination in elementary science at the University of London in July 1936. He commenced his medical studies on 7 October 1936 at King's College Hospital, Camberwell and was placed on the register of students on 16 November 1936.
In the 1939 England and Wales Register he is shown as one of five medical students boarding at 67 Melbourne Grove, Camberwell, and the home of Miss Rebecca J. Pinnock (b.1866). He married Estelle Lorraine Bell (1917-2003) in the 1st quarter of 1941 in the Marylebone registration district. She had been training as a nurse from 1937 to 1940 at King's College Hospital and following her examinations became qualified and registered on 28 June 1940. The 1943 Register of Nurses shows her address to have been 6 Salem Mansions, Salem Road, London, W2. They had two children: Ian P. A. Binks whose birth was registered in the 3rd quarter of 1943 in the Lambeth registration district and Sheila M. Binks whose birth was registered in the 3rd quarter of 1947 also in the Lambeth registration district.
The 1942 Medical Directory lists him as:- Binks, Frank Allen, "Glenthorne", Hall Place Gardens, St. Albans, Herts.-M.R.C.S. Eng., L.R.C.P. Lond.1941; (King's Coll.Lond.); Ho. Phys. (late Ho. Surg) King's Coll Hosp.
He joined the , service number 117827, and the shows that he was commissioned as a Flying Officer (emergency) with effect from 6 February 1942 and was attached to their Medical Branch. He served in . The shows that as a Flight Lieutenant he was named as a person who had been Mentioned in Despatches.
Electoral registers and telephone directories show him listed from 1945 to 1950 at 6 Salem Mansions, Salem Road, Paddington; from 1951 to 1957 at Flat 4, 45 Cleveland Square, Paddington; from 1958 to 1972 at 249 High Street, Harrow and from 1973 at Oakleigh, Mildred Avenue, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
Electoral registers in 2003 and 2004 state that he and his wife's address had remained as Oakleigh, Mildred Avenue, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, WD6 2DH. He died, aged 89 years, on 3 January 2007 and his death was recorded at Borehamwood in the 1st quarter of 2007 in the Watford registration district.
