St Elizabeth of Hungary

Princess and saint.  Born either in the castle of Sárospatak, or in Pozsony, both in the Kingdom of Hungary.  She was married at the age of fourteen to Louis IV, the Landgrave of Thuringia, and widowed six years later. After her husband's death, she sent her children away and regained her dowry, using the money to build a hospital where she herself served the sick. She became a symbol of Christian charity after her death and was quickly canonised.
