St Pancras Housing Association

Categories: Property, Social Welfare

Group

One of the earlier housing associations. In 1924 Father Basil Jellicoe founded the St Pancras House Improvement Society Ltd which was later named the St Pancras Housing Association. In 2000 it merged with the Humanist Housing Association (formed in 1955), becoming the St Pancras and Humanist Housing Association. In 2004, it became Origin Housing.

In 1927 the St Pancras Housing Society (surely another name for this group?) was responsible for, among others, the Garden Estate in Somers Town. A pamphlet, 'Forever Building; A Short History of the St. Pancras Housing Society 1924-1954' was published in 1955.
